What is MEG'S House?
MEG'S House is an emergency shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. We also provide emergency shelter to men who are victims of family violence. Our service areas are McCormick, Edgefield, and Greenwood.
Why would I need MEG'S House?
- 1 in 4 women have been in a domestic violence relationship at some point in their lifetime.
- Young women, ages 16 to 24, experience the highest rate of relationship violence.
- In 2009, 33 women were murdered as a result of domestic violence. 2 in Greenwood county.
- So far in 2010, MEG'S House has served 175 people and answered 729 crisis calls.
